Spotlight on Delilah Marvelle’s new series!

Hey romance addicts!

I can barely type for excitement! At long last, Delilah’s new three book series will be released back to back starting January of next year! Those of you who have read Delilah’s previous books will know what a talented, funny, and witty writer she is. She’s been undeservedly under the radar so far but no doubt with next year’s offering, she’ll be moving onto everyone’s must buy lists!

Her new series will revolve around a mysterious red book that advises people on how to avoid scandals. Naturally of course, the three books revolve around major scandal-delicious!

With those gorgeous covers and those tanatlizing blurbs-These three books will be ones to watch come next year!

Book One: Prelude to a Scandal

Having been raised in the jungles of South Africa, assisting her father in the study of mammal copulation, Lady Justine Fedora Palmer sweeps back into London to embark upon her coming out.  She quickly discovers animals are far more civilized than the men surrounding her.
When her father’s observations are made public, proving buggery is natural to the animal kingdom, all of London is in a huffing outrage, including His Royal Majesty.  Her father is imprisoned and slapped with outrageous penalty fees they simply cannot pay.

Lady Justine becomes more than willing to trade her good name and her place in London’s gossip hungry society to secure her father’s release.  There is only one person she knows she can trust: her father’s patron, the Duke of Bradford.  A dashing libertine, yes, but one she passionately adores for his unwavering kindness, wit, humor, and a willingness to support her father’s studies even as everyone else had laughed her father off.
To her astonishment, the Duke of Bradford is not the same man.  His newly marred face hides a scandal that is about to test them both…

Book Two: Once Upon a Scandal

Lady Victoria Jane Emerson’s girlish notions were left behind when she is deserted by her first love, Lord Remington, without a backward glance.  Five years later, she is being forced to choose a husband by her father who is dying from an unspeakable disease that has obliterated the last of his mind. Though Victoria must marry out of duty, she has vowed to marry a man who will never break her heart.
Jonathan Pierce Thatcher, Viscount Remington, has returned home to London from Venice, free of all his family’s debts but is unable to forget the incredible Victoria he was forced to abandon as a means of protecting her from a scandal that had destroyed his life.

To his astonishment, Victoria’s dying father has chosen Jonathan and 2 others to vie for Victoria’s hand.
Before Jonathan can convince Victoria he’d be a worthy husband, he has to convince himself he is no longer the man he left behind in Venice.
Victoria finds herself falling for the only man she will ever love…for a second time.  But when she unearths the truth about the life Jonathan has been living in Venice, her heart is about to be tested.  Again.

Book Three: The Perfect Scandal

If there is anything Tristan Adam Hargrove, the fourth Marquis of Moreland has learned to avoid, it most certainly is scandal.  The dark and dashing lord is a true gentleman of honor who would never seduce a woman for his own gain
or pleasure.  But he plays the role of a gentleman for a reason, and it has nothing to do with respectablity.
When a raven haired beauty appears one night as his new neighbor, he knows better than to succumb to the desire he feels.  He knows little about her: only that she is high born, a protege of the Crown, vain, overly forward, and completely unsuitable for the dark, base passions he hides from the world.

If only his bedchamber window wasn’t aligned with HER bedchamber window.  If only she would cease taunting him by leaving those damn curtains open just for him.
If only it were not already too late to save her and himself from the scandal he is about to unleash in the name of an untamed passion that has kept him from becoming involved with women for years…

And if that teasing hint wasn’t enough for you, there is even a trailer to promote the series-

Anticipated Novel-Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord

OMG, OMG, OMG-Halt the presses! The talented Sarah MacLean’s next book is coming out this October! The sequel to the highly successful release Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake is about Gabriel’s twin brother, the charming and dashing Lord Nicholas St. John.

Since reading about Nicholas in the first one, I was dying for him to get his own book. While his brother is reserved and devilish, Nicholas is openly charming and honorable and that is one gorgeous cover! Here’s the blurb for the book due out October 26th:

“Lord Nicholas is a paragon of manhood. And his eyes, Dear Reader! So blue!”
Pearls & Pelisses, June 1823

Since being named on of London’s “Lords to Land” by a popular ladies’ magazine, Nicholas St. John has been relentlessly pursued by every matrimony-minded female in the ton. So when an opportunity to escape fashionable society presents itself, he eagerly jumps—only to land in the path of the most determined, damnably delicious woman he’s ever met!

The daughter of a titled wastrel, Lady Isabel Townsend has too many secrets and too little money. Though used to taking care of herself quite handily, her father’s recent passing has left Isabel at sea and in need of outside help to protect her young brother’s birthright. The sinfully handsome, eminently eligible Lord Nicholas could be the very salvation she seeks.

But the lady must be wary and not do anything reckless…like falling madly, passionately in love.

Review:

This is book four of the Huxtable series.

I don’t know what it is about Mary Balogh books but they get me all the time, As soon as I bought this one (finally out in paperback after a year’s wait) I put it right at the top of my TBR list to be read immediately and for good reason.

Stephen Huxtable is the youngest of the four Huxtable siblings and throughout the first three books in the series, he was my favorite secondary character. It’s so refreshing to have a good hero for once instead of all the brooding, tortured heroes out there. Watching Stephen grow up was a pleasure and I couldn’t wait till he could get his own book. This book was the most anticipated for me. With such a charmed childhood, Stephen really hasn’t got anything to complain about and is in a word, ‘angelic’. He is handsome, outgoing, good-natured, friendly, honorable, and believes a relationship with a woman should be more than about sex.

Can we say swoon?! Oh yes we can!

Our heroine on the other hand, Cassie is the one with the problems. She’s been married for 10 long years to a brute of a husband and is now poor and sworn off all men. She decides to become a mistress so she can provide for herself and her friends who have come with her to London. When she sees the handsome and charming Stephen, she assumes he will be easy to manipulate as he has an innocence about him. So begins the seduction of an angel, which in this case, is the hero. An interesting turnabout as it’s always the angel of an heroine that the rakish hero wants to seduce.

I loved this book. I found Stephen to be wonderfully sweet and though people might find that dull, I personally found it refreshing. Don’t mistake Stephen though-He has strength in him. The journey that they both went on was touching and pulled at my heartstrings. Stephen is the perfect man for Cassandra who believes that all men are cruel and hateful. Cassandra is really not as deceiving as she appears and Stephen can see through her mask to the kind, brave, self-less woman underneath.

They made quite a pair and I loved every minute of their journey into happily ever after. It was worth the wait and in my opinion is the best of the series so far! It kept me entertained the whole time and the tension between Cassie and Stephen was very palpable.

Sensuality Level: Warm (The love scenes were not long and weren’t explicit)

Verdict: Bad girl meets good boy story written in true Balogh style. Not to be missed! This one goes on my re-read shelf!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake by Sarah Maclean

Setting: Regency 1823

A lady does not smoke cheroot.

She does not ride astride.

And so she’s vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she’s been missing. But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.

Review:

A book that starts with an adventurous list… What’s not to like?

I completely fell in love with this book from page one. Callie was such a great heroine and one with issues we all can relate to. She’s been a wallflower much of her life because she isn’t considered beautiful by society’s standards and yet she’s passionate, adventurous and so much more than anyone would have expected. I really related to her and rooted for her the entire novel.

Ralston on the other hand… Well, let’s just say he had me glued to the page, my cheeks aflame for much of the book. 😛

But it wasn’t just his obvious sexiness that hooked me, it was his ability to recognize Callie as worth so much more than his typical courtesans-to fall in love with her and see her for the true beauty she really is.

As for the rest of the characters, they were all easy to fall in love with as well-Callie’s sister and brother and Ralston’s sister and brother were all great; really fleshed out characters that are REAL.

The romance was spicy and well-written and it was clear that Callie and Ralston were well-matched. I love that in books when you can really see the connection between a hero and heroine and I could certainly see it in this one. I loved how Raslton was simultaneously irritated and bewitched by Callie-it made for some spicy interludes. The interactions between them were also so real you can almost imagine them taking place right in front of you.

The premise was unique and very well carried out-It wasn’t at all predictable in terms of what she would do to get the things on her list ticked off and more than that, the book was funny. I laughed several times throughout at the wittiness and the antics that the characters performed. Sarah Maclean has some serious talent and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with for the hero of her next book, Ralston’s twin brother, Nick!

Sensuality Level: Very, very spicy 😉 (Very explicit love scenes)

Verdict: It was fresh, witty, sexy and very romantic–Sarah Maclean is now on my favourite authors list!
